What went wrong with Metroid: Other M?

Apparently it hasn't sold half a mil yet, and likely won't ever reach a million.

Talk about the quality of the game and advertising all they want, but most people (like me) decided not to buy the moment the game was first shown.

Naturally the other half of that is piracy, which is nearly as rampant on Wii as it is on the DS.

People act like Samus is suddenly super weak because she has these human things called "emotions" now, and that she can't do anything... yet 85% of the game is blasting aliens, same as it was back when her personality wasn't much more developed then Master Chief.
At least, thats what I gather from all this, and why it probably hasn't done as well.

I would wonder if there were potentially some buyers avoiding the game by anticipating a form social stigma from buying what they may have percieved to be a "sexed up" version.

I think you're all reading way too deep into sales numbers, especially on the Wii. Other M isn't a traditional Metroid game, so you're losing both the recent Prime fans and the old school 2d people. Metroid by itself doesn't have anywhere near the name recognition that a Zelda or Mario does, so you aren't left with much.

I vote these guys for World's Most Bad-Ass.
