RIAA Legally allowed to attack yer Systeme?

Dark-Fear

Starman Jr.
I’m sure people have heard of this already, but seeing as I’m me here goes anyways like it or not.
According to internetweek.com
a bill is being passed that will allowed organizations like the RIAA to disable, impair or block p2p networks sharing copyrighted material. I personally think this is one more step to giving comanies likew the RIAA too much power iover digital media and will cause plenty of fuss down the road.
I stare out into the light from the darkness, only to wonder what it is I'm missing. Fear not what can be seen in the light of day, but what lurks in the dark and can not.

If a peer-to-peer network is allowing the distribution of their copyrighted material, they have every right to shut it down.

Besides, the RIAA won't be attacking "yer" system, they'll be attacking the peer-to-peer server.

And the term "a bill is being passed," when used on the internet usually means: "My cousin bob's friend told him that..."

I don't think its giving 'comanies' 'likew' the RIAA more power 'iover' digital media. I think its giving them back what they were supposed to have in the first place. Jusrisdiction over their copywrited material.

My only real question........
does "Comanies" mean Company or Commies?

WOW! And with stories like OASIS Looks To Use XML To Assist Fight Aginst Terrorism, how can you NOT taking InternetWeek seriously.

In my honest opinion though, p2p just makes it EASIER for the masses to get cheap little single mp3s, it's not the problem at all. People aren't pirating the entire cd Eminem CD on kazza, they're downloading the single, and then buying the cd. The RIAA doesn't realize that p2p isn't a problem, and mp3 downloading isn't a problem. Hell, I think I'd be safe to say that the RIAA doesn't know a single thing about music or the music industry, just as the IDSA doesn't know a thing about the video gaming industry. But I guess, if shutting down peer to peer will make them feel better about making millions of dollars off of other peoples work... well, I won't worry much about it.

True, Its probably just some way for them to make a buck. But... They are going to have a hard time targetting Kazaa. They are going to have to target people instead. Because Kazaa (even though it is kinda bad.) The way its set up.. It makes it almost invunrable, Since its primary networks and all aren't in the united states, they're in some island off the coast of Australia. One of those little islands there are their own country.. Like New Guinee(spelling?).

I guess they'll have to go to war with New Guinae. And the way that commercialism dominates america, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see them expend their military power to accomplish such a thing.

Ha, That would be hilarious. What the hell would the troops say. 'We're fighting a war for our music! Woo!'
